Hello and thank you for looking over my website!
Here are some quick 'bites' of info about me...
I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in the state of MA. I am also certified through the NSCA as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist and as a Personal Trainer. My consulting specialties include Weight Management, Sports Nutrition, Intensive Behavior Change Therapy, Eating Disorders, and Youth Nutrition & Fitness. My range of concierge services involve Nutrition & Fitness Education, Meal Plans, Grocery List Development and Shopping Guidance, Kitchen/Pantry Makeovers, and Progressive Exercise Programming. I strive to provide my clients the utmost attention to details, a motivating and fun style of communication, and the commitment to achieving long term goals.
However, you've ultimately landed on this page to find out some historical details about me. So here goes a look into my professional history. If you'd like to get more info on my educational background which paved the way for my professional work, you can check out my How Did Nicholas Altieri Get Here page.
My professional career began with in the fitness industry. I earned the first of my two certifications with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in January 2005 as I became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). That was followed up in May 2005 with earning the Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) credential. I have continuously maintained both of these credentials, completing the required 60 hours of continuing education credits every 3 years.
Up to this point, the majority of my professional working career has involved personal training and fitness management. I've done some private practice nutrition and fitness consulting, but I have been primarily working with the Boston Sports Clubs since 2009. I began my BSC journey at the BSC Weymouth location. I began as an entry level Apprentice Personal Trainer and 'learned the ropes' of the business. I grew my client list as much as I could, and was eventually recognized for my overall skills and abilities when I was promoted to the Fitness Services Manager in 2011.
During that same time frame of 2009 to 2011, I had also secured a nutrition-related position as a Nutrition Education with the University of Massachusetts Extension SNAP-Ed Program in Brockton. I was involved in running two programs. The more substantial program was a twice per week, after school series in Brockton middle schools, which focused on a holistic nutrition and exercise program called the Strength and Power in Nutrition (SPIN) curriculum. The other program also utilized the SPIN curriculum, but was designed for adults with English as a second language. Both programs were fun classes to teach, including cooking demonstrations, group interaction with foods and digestive system models/props, and creative group projects. However, I needed to discontinue this work once I took the promotion to BSC Weymouth Fitness Manager.
So after a couple years managing at the BSC Weymouth, I became hungry for growth in a much larger facility with more potential to help more people. In mid 2013, I took the opportunity to transfer to the TSI flagship location at BSC Waltham as their Lead Personal Trainer. I commuted twice as far, but it was worth it. The place is a bit awe inspiring, with 75,000 square feet of space, and shares the same building with the Boston Celtics headquarters and the Boston Sport & Shoulder Center. I was the leader of a personal training team which started with 19 trainers and grew to 25, and we grew the business to a point of setting TSI's all-time records for monthly personal training sessions. In mid 2015, I was promoted to the Fitness Manager. Running the BSC Waltham facility has been an extremely valuable experience and definitely a career highlight for me.
Most recently in 2017 I decided that my passion for growing my Nutrition & Fitness Private Practice was finally a pursuit that couldn't wait any longer. I've been fortunate enough to arrange another transfer with BSC to be the Fitness Manager at a smaller studio-style club at the BSC at Reservoir Place, which is also in Waltham. In this capacity, I now handle a more manageable load of responsibilities, which affords me the room to also effectively run and ultimately grow my Nutrition & Fitness Private Practice.
So in December of 2017, I have officially expanded my Private Practice into a professional office building. My business is now open at 470 Washington St in Norwood Massachusetts, in a beautiful office in Suite #22. I often collaborate with another practitioner in this suite, Adrienne Neirinckx, who is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker providing mental health therapy services. You can see a picture of my private office space and more on my Services Page, and find directions to the office on my Contact Me Page within my website.
So, that's my most recent professional background. For an even further look back into my past, you can check out my How Did Nicholas Altieri Get Here Page.
